Leslie Thompson, Supervisory Examiner

Leslie Thomson is the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Supervisory Examiner in Hawaii. She is responsible for the safety, soundness and supervision of eight examiners and 99 credit unions located in Hawaii and Guam.

Leslie has over 22 years of credit union regulatory experience. She has served as the Hawaii Supervisory Examiner since 1992. Prior she was a Problem Case Officer in Michigan and Ohio and a Principal Examiner in Michigan.

As a frequent speaker, Leslie provides insight into regulatory issues, examination changes, and trends in the credit union industry. She provides current information on NCUA Regulatory Changes and Issues affecting credit unions. Volunteers, management and staff have attended many of her sessions sponsored by: Hawaii Credit Union League, The Paragon Group and CUNA Affiliates, Credit Union Executive Society, Kwock and Company, NACUSAC, CU Conferences and others.

She is an active member and the Chairperson of the Education Foundation for the Windward Oahu Chapter of the American Association of University Women. Leslie is a board member and secretary for the Windward Oahu AAUW Scholarship Fund, which provides educational scholarships to Windward Oahu women who attend college in Hawaii. She is also a member of the Professional Women’s Network – Hawaii.

Leslie has a Master of Science Administration degree from Central Michigan University – Hawaii Campus. Her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan is in accounting and information system analysis.

In her spare time, you can find Leslie balancing her busy life by volunteering and supporting arts and cultural events at the Diamond Head Theatre, Hawaii Theatre Center, Paliku Theatre and Hawaii Pacific University Theater.

NCUA is the independent federal agency responsible for chartering, supervising and insuring more than 9,000 federal and state chartered credit unions.
